Harman S. Sandhu is a litigator and construction lawyer who offers clients efficient and proven advocacy strategies to resolve construction legal disputes.
Harman Sandhu is an associate lawyer with Sportschuetz & Company whose practice focuses on construction law, builders lien disputes, commercial litigation, and complex civil disputes.
Prior to joining the firm, Harman practiced with a leading international law firm where he represented clients in a broad range of litigation matters, including construction disputes, commercial claims, insurance litigation, and contractual conflicts. He has appeared before the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Provincial Court of British Columbia and has experience advancing matters through all stages of the litigation process, including pleadings, chambers applications, mediations, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
Harman is particularly well-positioned to advise clients in the construction industry due to his extensive hands-on experience in residential and multi-residential development and construction. Before entering legal practice, he co-founded and operated a residential construction company, where he was directly involved in the planning, management, and execution of construction projects. His experience includes overseeing project schedules, coordinating trades and consultants, managing budgets, navigating contractual relationships, administering construction contracts, and resolving the practical challenges that arise throughout the life cycle of a project. He has been involved in a wide range of residential and multi-residential developments and brings firsthand knowledge of the commercial realities faced by owners, developers, contractors, and subcontractors.
This practical industry background provides Harman with a unique perspective when advising clients involved in construction disputes. He understands not only the legal issues that can arise on a project, but also the operational pressures, risk allocation considerations, scheduling concerns, and financial realities that influence project outcomes. His experience with project delivery, contract administration, change management, and dispute resolution enables him to provide strategic, pragmatic, and business-minded advice tailored to his clients' objectives.
Harman's advocacy and negotiation skills have been recognized through competitive success during law school. He earned First Place in the TRU Law Dean's Cup Moot, sponsored by the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia, in 2024, and First Place in the 1L Dentons Negotiation Contest in 2022. These accomplishments reflect his ability to effectively advocate, negotiate, and develop persuasive legal strategies on behalf of his clients.
Harman approaches every matter with a practical, results-oriented mindset. He is known for his strong file management skills, attention to detail, and ability to develop effective litigation strategies tailored to his clients' objectives. His focus is always on delivering efficient, cost-effective solutions while protecting his clients' legal and commercial interests.
Harman's combination of litigation experience, advocacy training, and real-world construction management experience makes him a valuable advocate for clients involved in construction and commercial disputes.
